MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

If I were to describe 2010 in one word, it would be “change.” Technology, our industry, and our clients are all changing, and so must our company.

Data collection software, IT infrastructure, and digitization, data, and records management tools are changing how research is conducted. Advances in filing and document management systems are forcing our clients to develop new policies and levels of organization. Combined with budget cuts in the public and private sectors, these changes are forcing our clients to consider alternative ways of streamlining and outsourcing research services.

These changes signal both considerable risks and great opportunities for us as a company. New competitors like IT firms are entering our industry and vying for the same research contracts that we have traditionally won. However, new industries and potential partnerships have also opened up for us, creating unprecedented opportunities for CDCI.

In anticipation of these opportunities, we have restructured our leadership teams to renew our strategic plan. We are investing in new people, technologies, and infrastructure. And we are building partnerships with IT firms, document and records management companies, First Nations organizations, and universities.

In the face of such widespread change, we had a banner year in 2010, and we are better positioned than any other research company to lead our industry into the future. This is a result of the incredible commitment and hard work of our research, management, and administrative teams across Canada.

I am excited about our outlook for 2011 and beyond. I have never seen more dedication to our vision—not to simply adapt to change, but to lead it.
